Admitted Eagles - High school seniors descended upon BC this weekend to see the campus firsthand. The Heights hopes that Sunday evening's ridiculous traffic congestion does not dissuade them from becoming the class of 2013.

Reggie Jackson - Number zero on the scorecard, number one in our hearts (depending with whom you speak). Reggie Jackson may not be "Mr. October," but his rakish headband and penchant for emotional on-court outbursts are definitely making people wonder when the single zero jersey will appear in the Bookstore.

Oscar Nominations - Oscar politicking began last week as the nominees for the 81st Academy Awards were announced. Richard Jenkins, from The Visitor (a film written and directed by a BC grad), received a Best Actor nod; but aside from vigorously supporting Peter Gabriel's "Down to Earth" from WALL-E, TU/TD will remain neutral for fear of unduly skewing voting results.

Green Merch - In an annual effort to show other Catholic universities where the real Irish dwell, Boston College is already stocking St. Patrick's Day apparel in McElroy. Students not affected by epilepsy may want to invest in the flashing shamrock necklaces. If a T-shirt is what you are after, feel free to pick up the less than politically correct "Who's Your Paddy?" design.

Classroom crucifixes - Upon returning from Christmas break, students may have noticed the new crucifixes in all academic classrooms. This thoughtful gift from the Jesuit community has been long overdue.

Petrecki headbutt-Sophomore defenseman Nick Petrecki went the way of French star Zinedine Zidane when he decided to headbutt a Maine player on Sunday. Note to Patrecki: this questionable maneuver may be accepted overseas, but it is not, in fact, sanctioned in American ice hockey.

Pre-recorded music - The classical composition "Air and Simple Gifts" that premiered at Obama's inauguration was taped beforehand due to the frigid temperatures, leading Yo-Yo Ma to remark, "It was wicked cold." Nevertheless, when world renowned musicians are deflecting epithets comparing them to Ashlee Simpson, something is obviously awry.

Drop/Add Schedule- Students with classes that only meet on Mondays are out of luck this semester. The Drop/Add period ended before they even had an opportunity to meet their professors, leaving a public wailing and gnashing of teeth as their only available recourse.

Sunday Morning PDA - There isn't much more to say about this. Hungry students stuck in the cheeseburger line should no longer be subjected to this madness.
