Thumbs Up

More space for e-mail: Our BC WebMail accounts now can hold up to 200 MB. That's 175 more megabytes, a 700-percent increase in storage. That means we won't have to deal with those annoying "Account over quota" warnings as much, and we can send e-mails with much larger attachments. Of course, this news is only relevant for those students who haven't made the switch to G-mail yet. With its "unlimited" storage and its great organizational capabilities, G-mail deserves its own thumbs up.

Running for a cause: Eagles don't only fly; they "soar to glory" by running, too. Last Monday, they took to the roads for 26.2 miles, many running to raise money for the Boston College Campus School. Though training for the next marathon may be more than a few months away, students are keeping up with the running. Saturday's "Stride for Others" on Newton Campus benefited the Boston Rescue Mission, and yesterday's "Run for Relief," benefitted the Malawi Children's Village.

Earth Day, since 1970: What a great day, Earth Day, a day to celebrate the earth and to raise awareness of how we can better take care of it. Every day should be Earth Day, and Friday's annual "Mount Trashmore" exhibit in the Dustbowl was just another example of why it's so important to recycle. The 1,200 pounds of Upper Campus' trash from the night before was an eye-opener for many who walked by. Thirty-five percent of that trash was recyclable. If you see someone wearing a "Kiss me I recycle" shirt, go ahead and give them a smooch, they deserve it.

One more Monday: Eleven down, one to go. Congrats, there's only one more Monday to wake up in time for class this semester. What else does this mean? Those of you who don't have much more money on your meal plans only have a few more days to worry about.

Thumbs Down

Seats for Kanye: It's not the UGBC's fault. We're all still very excited for Kanye. But the new mandatory seating policy and the accompanying ticket redistribution is less than ideal, to say the least. And with the concert slated for tomorrow night, this last minute change has many making changes in plans to get in line for the coveted floor seats.

It's allergy season: Sure, the trees and flowers on campus look pretty. But beneath their flourishing exteriors lies a much more sinister quality. Their pollen is the cause of many sniffling students spending their days with congested heads, itchy eyes, and scratchy throats. Springtime at BC is fun, but allergies are certainly not. A comfort to those who suffer - you aren't suffering alone.
