The Scene, along with our partner Allied, a public relations firm, hopes to offer you the chance to go to advance screenings of films here in Boston throughout the fall semester. The first will take place next Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. The screening, which will be at the Loews Boston Commons will feature Choke, an adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's novel of the same name.

You should recognize Palahniuk as the author of the graphic novel Fight Club, so you can be sure that the content of this film will jump out at you. Just take a look at this description from Yahoo Movies: "Victor Mancini, a medical-school dropout, is an antihero for our deranged times. Needing to pay elder care for his mother, Victor has devised an ingenious scam: He pretends to choke on pieces of food while dining in upscale restaurants. He then allows himself to be 'saved' by fellow patrons who, feeling responsible for Victor's life, go on to send checks to support him. When he's not pulling this stunt, Victor cruises sexual addiction recovery workshops for action, visits his addled mom, and spends his days working at a colonial theme park."

As a special addition to the screening, director Clark Gregg will be on hand to speak with the audience. Many know Gregg for his contribution to film. He recently played Agent Coulson in one of summer's top blockbusters, Iron Man. He also had notable roles in We Were Soldiers, Lovely and Amazing, and In Good Company. He was also the screenwriter of What Lies Beneath, the 2000 thriller starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford.

Gregg, who studied at New York University, got his start in the theater, where he built a long and colorful resume. He is the former artistic director of New York's Atlantic Theater Company, of which he was also a founding member. Most notably, he is a frequent partner of living legend David Mamet and was in the original Broadway cast of Aaron Sorkin's A Few Good Men.

Gregg has appeared in several TV shows, including Law and Order, The West Wing, and Will and Grace. He also has a long relationship with HBO, working on Lip Service, Live from Baghdad, and Sex and the City.

So, come prepared to explore the filmmaking process with a great artist. Representatives from The Heights will be there to enjoy the evening with you. If you would like a ticket to the event, stop by The Heights office at McElroy 113 starting at noon tomorrow to pick them up,w or e-mail me at arts@bcheights.com. Tickets are first come, first serve, and admit two people each to the screening. This is an event that you surely won't want to miss.
