If you ever watched RAW, then the last time was probably back when Ric Flair grappled with Hulk Hogan for the WWE championship, when The Heights published the "TV Close-Up" on Alf. In a silver-screen age of shows like Lost or 24, viewers fall fatally behind after missing minutes of one episode. But there is still consistency and integrity left on TV, though from an unlikely source: the "Nature Boy," Ric Flair. On this Monday's RAW, Flair bade farewell to the industry and people he has loved - and that have loved him - for four decades of literally breaking his back. The 69-year-old was forced to retire after losing an epic match against protege Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XXIV. Weeping, the "Dirtiest Player in the Game" was surprised by the entire RAW cast, who came out to hug him, along with his family and some of his long-retired adversaries. I cried, too, because it's great to be able to leave a show for 15 years, only to return to a childhood friend, feeling like a part of an almost sacred tradition.
RAW airs Monday nights from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. on USA.
