For those of us who've had IDs long enough to remember Kinvara, it was somewhat of a disappointment to hear that it had fallen under new ownership and adopted a much lamer name: The Draft. There's still trivia on Wednesday nights, and the dartboard is still in the same spot, but those seem to be the only similarities that this new bar shares with the former.

You get an odd and disappointing feeling as you walk in. It seems as if someone went into Kinvara, turned up all the lights, scattered flat-screen TVs and fluorescent beer signs on all the walls, and put in a new pool table.

Basically, it's still Kinvara, just without a soul. Kinvara used to be Harvard Avenue's dive bar. It was a fun place to chill out as you started or finished your evening. But now it has the same sketchiness, just without the blanket excuse of being a dive bar.

Basically, it would be like Mr. Roggie deciding to buy out Mary Ann's (I don't know what would actually possess him to do such a thing, but bear with me for the sake of the analogy) and putting in bright fluorescent lights, repainting the walls, and putting up a half-dozen flat-screen TVs all tuned to ESPN 360. It would still just be Mary Ann's, only with flat-screen TVs and bright lights, which is just … weird.

Anyway, they have wing specials on Sundays and Mondays, Wednesday trivia (as always); Thursday is a night for local bands, and Saturday is DJ time. Drinks are pretty standard as far as variety and price. As the weather gets warmer, you can sit out on the patio while you play trivia, which is pretty fun. But basically, The Draft is as uninspired as its name implies. B-
