What a time to be a Boston fan. Undefeated Pats, undefeated Eagles, and now the Red Sox are in the World Series. And a big weekend is ahead, regardless of our phenomenal athletic prospects. Big birthday bashes and Homecoming will make for a very interesting lineup. To celebrate, I give you the Home Run.
A broad blend of booze, the Home Run with knock your Sox off whether you're watching the game, toasting to the trio, or doing the Jane Fonda on a Saturday night. This is not for amateurs or those with a weak liver. If you've got pneumonia, you should avoid this beverage altogether. But if you're really ready to set it off, this is the drink for you.
Grab a hurricane glass (or a Solo cup if you're low-budget) and get out your shaker. Combine all ingredients, shake, and pour over ice in your glassware of choice. Garnish with a lime or orange wedge.
For a sweeter taste, skip the grapefruit and cranberry and substitute orange juice. If all that booze scares you, skip the vodka and rum, trade the two juices for OJ and add a splash of 7-Up and 2 ounces of sweet and sour mix for Bite of the Iguana. If you're heading to Homecoming or praying for another JD Drew moment, mix up a Home Run. Drink up!
