It's 1 a.m., and it's closing time. Today marks the publication of the last Scene of the 2008 Heights editorial board. It's time for us to hang up our hats and bow out gracefully for a new Arts & Review team. And, it's time for us to remember.
Here's to the memories. Here's to our new, redesigned Scene, our love child. We remade it twice and stayed up both times until 6 a.m. doing so. Here's to celebrating its fulfillment with Jeff's (least) favorite songs: Mandy Moore's "Candy" and Jessica Simpson's "I Think That I'm in Love With You." Here's to making headlines. Here's to making Blair do them, because we men sucked so badly at them. Here's to Blair spending five hours making the headline for the Michael Cera spread and having this to show for it: 'Finding rhythm in new roles.' Here's to finishing The Scene early for once and staying up until 3 a.m. for two votes to think of a name for our Scene blog, "Pop Blotter." It never made your radar. Here's to the great opportunities that we were given to interview our two favorites - Will Ferrell and Atmosphere. Here's to Blair seeing Ryan Reynolds walk into the Ritz to answer her questions and forgetting everything she was going to ask him - he was that beautiful. Here's to columns, to those who wrote them early and to those who never remembered they wrote one. Here's to Blair's Birthday Bash, our favorite Drink Up!, and our celebration of her 21st with Jeff, his bottle of Stoli, and the Vouté stairs. Here's to pop culture and to our man, Clay Aiken. Here's to dealing with overzealous publicists, to Enrique, and to Blair's refrigerator. Here's to Halloween, to the 50 costume guides we didn't publish, and to one Smurf finding love. Here's to flannel and tweens, to long nights on the couch listening to Blair's iPod, and to Nickelback. Here's to cultural diversity storming Robsham.
But most of all, here's to the time of our college years, to making lifelong friends, and to the end of a journey. Mix all the ingredients (our favorites), and drink up! We did it, guys!
