There are all sorts of legends around Boston College: Doug Flutie, St. Ignatius, Mr. Kwan in Lower - all legends. The most sadly missed legend? The Rat - the real one. Thanks for the option of a grilled cheese, but gimme some greasy, nasty fries, please! These poor freshmen and sophomores don't even realize what they could have had. In honor of the legendary dining facility and my desire for booze on campus, I give you The Pub Rat.
So you probably already know about the UGBC's Pub Series that kicks off tonight in The Rat. You better get your BC ID validated at Student Services (just bring your license) and get down there to buy me a $3.50 beer. Oh, how I wish the Rat was always a bar; CSOMers would flock after a failed investment of FAST exam and drink away their worries. Maybe we could order a side of fatty chicken fingers with the cheap red wine or Busch Light. Alas, the golden ages of The Rathskeller have passed us by. Perhaps over Parents' Weekend you heard - from 1973 until the mid '80s, there was a bar. On campus. Until they bring it back, we'll have to remain Roggie's Rats and Mary Ann's Maniacs. Luckily, today we can pre-game like our forefathers in The Rat.
So this bev isn't greasy or fatty like the fries they used to serve, but it'll fill you up for sure. Pour all ingredients into a blender. Add two cups of half and half and a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a little something extra. Blend well until mixed and serve in a hurricane glass. Maybe throw an umbrella in like Mo, or garnish with some pineapple - yummy.
I would recommend this is as your first beverage of the night, as the half and half and ice cream line your stomach and protect it from the rest of the alcohol you'll be dumping down your throat tonight. In honor of all BC legends … Drink Up!
