The mimosa Ingredients: orange juice champagne

Some mornings call for that extra special something. For the morning when a cup of coffee and a cold shower just won't cut it, put your faith in a mimosa. Monday mornings will never be the same.

The mimosa is a mixture of your run-of-the-mill orange juice with any bottle of champagne you can get your hands on. Because you're mixing it, the champagne can be of a poor quality (Andre) and will be cheap enough to get several bottles for the same price as a handle of Rubinoff.

Unlike most bevs, the mimosa is to be enjoyed primarily in the morning to early afternoon hours. While it's entirely acceptable to order one when you're out for Sunday brunch with your parents, if you try to order one at Mary Ann's, you'll get laughed out of the bar. It also makes for a classier way to kick off a full day of tailgating and feel slightly less bad about drinking at 9 a.m. And just think about all the vitamin C you're getting (it's the least you can do for your body).

So if you find yourself embarassed to ask at a bar, it's OK; the mimosa is a remarkably simple drink to make in the safety of your own home.

Just pour a healthy dosage of champagne into a highball glass and fill the rest up with chilled orange juice. Yep, that's it. So the next time you roll out of bed feeling groggy, just stumble toward the fridge and pop some bubbly. It'll make classes much more interesting. Drink up.
