Mama Neese's Southern Pecan Pie

1 cup sugar

½ cup corn syrup

¼ cup butter, melted

3 eggs, well beaten

1 cup pecan pieces

1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell

Mix sugar, syrup, and butter. Add eggs and pecans and mix well. Fill unbaked pie shell with mixture and bake in moderately hot oven (400 degrees) for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to moderate (350 degrees) and continue baking for 35 to 40 minutes.
