Miss USA. Miss Teen USA. Donald Trump. Pageants haven't fared so well in the past year. But the Mr. BC competition of 2007, sponsored by the Resident Hall Association, seeks to bring back poise, prestige, and class to the realm of talent competitions. Tonight marks Mr. BC's fifth year.

It is held in the Rat, with a slew of eight "celebrity" judges, fabulous prizes for the crowned winner, and a live performance by BC's own Bluebook Addiction, winner of the Qdoba Beanpot Battle of the Bands. Nine contestants will compete for the title in several categories: casual wear, formal wear, talent, and the ever-popular swimwear.

Without further ado, presenting this year's candidates for Mr. BC, in their own words...

Sean Hanel

Sean Hanel was originally raised by a pack of wolves in Denver, Colo., but migrated to St. Louis, Mo., and found a human family when he was 5 years old. As the valedictorian of a high school class of only one student, Sean made his way to Boston College to pursue degrees in both history and English. At BC, he led Kairos No. 41, participated on a Pedro Arrupe Service trip to Jamaica, served as an Orientation Leader, and captained the Rugby team. Although it has been alleged that Sean wet the bed until he was 18 years old, this is a falsification. He actually still has accidents.

Patrick Corcoran

Pat "Hollywood" Corcoran hails from a little slice of heaven known as Topsfield, Mass., home of America's oldest fair! Pat is a communication major who thinks nothing feels quite as good as a crisp pair of white socks wrapped in Teva sandals. In his spare time, he enjoys beekeeping and stamp collecting. His role model is Uncle Jesse from Full House, as they both have incredible hair. Have mercy.

Donnie Meurer

Donald Francis Meurer, commonly known as Donnie, was born and raised in the great state of Wisconsin and takes credit for the invention and patenting of a Midwest hand signal. He spends most of his time checking his e-mail in class, sitting on a dilapidated futon in Mod 37A watching Seinfeld, and "chasing tail." His plans for the next month involve running the Boston Marathon and being the man.

Alex Rikleen

Sophomore Alex Rikleen, of Boston suburb Wayland, developed an incredible interest in the many varieties of sliced deli meats in high school and began to pursue a career as a butcher. When Alex, raised a proud Jew, was informed by his rabbi of the conflict of Jewish dietary laws with such a profession, he began his quest to become the token Jew at a Catholic institution. Known to most as "that guy with that hat at that game," Alex is currently studying secondary education and history in the Lynch School of Education. As Mr. BC, he hopes to show the world the limitless opportunities available to a man with just a little too much free time on his hands and dashing good looks.

Neil Shea

Today Neil Shea might just look like a tall, dark, future medical student who co-captains practice squad for the women's basketball team. But you can't get those results overnight: His chiseled jaw line evolved while growing up on the mean streets of St. Louis, Mo., where he learned to deal with constant media scrutiny and fervent fans. Neil hopes to outdo his performance in last year's Mr. BC show when he gave one lucky female audience member a back rub on stage.

Jim Conti

Jolly Jim Conti was born and raised in beautiful Hudson, N.H. He still gets taunted about the fully-functioning farm that was part of his school's vocational program. While at BC, Jolly Jim has gone through seven majors. His parents still don't understand why. Being slightly overly involved on campus, his favorite clubs are those with acronyms: CSVBC, FAE, STF, and BCHC. Tonight, look for Jolly Jim turning red with embarrassment, but loving the support from all his friends!

Tim Bates

Timothy "Tim" Bates of Massapequa, N.Y., is a sophomore communication major who you have undoubtedly seen here on the Heights. At a towering 6-2, with eyes of pure blue steel and a charming Irish smile, Tim is a key player for the short-lived intramural flag football team The Regulators, and the legendary 14th place co-ed softball team Average Joes. These days, he can usually be found running down Commenwealth Avenue training for the Boston Marathon with the Campus School Volunteers Marathon Team, "representing Long Island to the fullest extent of the law," and celebrating all that is BC.

Peter Curran:

Peter Curran lives in Mauston, a town of 4,000 people in Wisconsin, with his younger brother, Alex. His favorite music includes OAR, Hinder, Dave Matthews Band, Bayside, Taking Back Sunday, and anything country. Peter is an avid collector of movies and owns over 200. In the summer, he works as a duck driver, just like the ones that give the harbor tours. His interests include all sports, long walks on the beach, candlelit dinners, and sunsets.

Chester Li

Chester Li, A&S '08, hails from the town of Woodbridge, Conn. He majors in economics, with a minor in general education, and checks in at 5'9'' and 170 pounds. Though he lives off campus, Chester participates in RHA and Swing Kids regularly. Spontaneous dance parties and deep conversation are a regular occurrence around this social creature. Potential Mrs. BCs should watch out for Chester's patented pick-up lines or custom-made origami flowers.
