Clutch Full Fathom Five 2007/2008 Weathermaker Music
It's hard to believe that Clutch is still as unknown as it is. With a near-perfect catalogue, each album taking on a different style, Clutch has become the last true rock 'n' roll band out there. Full Fathom Five is a collection of live songs, ranging from the band's early stoner rock recordings to its newer southern rock sound. It's a collection sure to please any fan, and if you haven't heard of them yet, there's no better time than now to start listening. A- - C.P.
Eagles of Death Metal Heart On Downtown
As many have rather astutely pointed out, the Eagles of Death Metal, indeed, consist of neither eagles nor death metal, but instead a very pleasantly tongue-in-cheek take on alternative-flavored sleaze-rock. The duo's third album Heart On is a fine and giddy follow-up to its excellent Death by Sexy that continues its time-honored tradition of making a mockery of a genre that is too ridiculous to take seriously anyway. Hinder Take It To The Limit Universal Republic
Continuing to follow in the drunken footsteps of post-grunge predecessors Buckcherry and Theory of a Dead Man, Hinder plows forward with another heaping helping of hedonistic hard rock. Little has changed since the band's polarizing debut, as evident from the first track "Use Me," where vocalist Austin Winkler eagerly describes his willingness to be taken advantage of for, ahem ... "pleasure's sake." If rock music wasn't ever meant to be more than sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll, these guys never got the memo. D- - B.S.
