Orinoco brings the Latin flavor of Venezuela to the glasses of Brookline residents. Located just a short walk from the Brookline Hills T-stop, Orinoco is the self-described "Disney Land for your mouth." The space is brightly colored in greens, blues, and yellows, bringing a family feel to the bar experience. This is enhanced with knickknacks from Venezuela located on shelves in the entry way and pictures of the owner's family on the walls.

The bar itself is a wooden structure that, in all honesty, looks as if it may fall over. Its stools resemble classic shaker furniture and have been textured to expose the wood underneath the paint. Even the bartender makes guests feel like family, engaging them in conversations as if they were long lost friends.

The experience gets even better with the explanation of the bar menu. The bartender takes guests through the selections, describing each in detail, and referring to his menu as an adventure for your taste buds. The bar is known for its fresh and minty mojitos. In fact, there is a distinct smell of mint at the bar as a result of this popular choice. Many individuals flock to the bar for Bloody Marias, a spicy Latin spin on the classic. But, being at a Latin bar and grille, I went for my personal favorite - red wine sangria. While tasting the wine, your mouth experiences an influx of rich, fruity flavor. Just for that healthy twist, there are pieces of apple, oranges, and pineapple floating in the glass.

After receiving my beverage, I sank into the seat to truly enjoy the experience. While the typical hustle and bustle was present, the background noise was lost to the interesting conversations, the variety of people there, and the homey atmosphere that people of all ages enjoyed while at the crowded bar, awaiting refills of their favorite beverages.
