"My Favorite Film sites"
The Internet is a wonderful world for film snobs such as myself (and anyone else who sees countless movies). Therefore, I would like to make a tribute to my favorite Web pages about movies (even though they should be paying me for kissing their asses).
Imdb.com - This one is too obvious because everyone knows it and uses it. Yet, something about reading an argument between two 16-year-olds about how The Dark Knight is the best film ever made intrigues me. The forums are golden; nearly every film listed has an extensive thread about how overrated it is. Freedom of speech has never been so entertaining, especially on a Web site whose major demographic is 18-24-year-old males who think they know something about film. Wait, I think that's me…
The-editing-room.com - Do you have interest in seeing a movie but don't want to pay the $10? Do you not want to see it because it will take two hours out of your day? If these are true, then come to "the editing room," where you can read abridged scripts in no time at all and for free. You also can read the scripts of your favorite films and see all the corniness and obvious plot-holes that you neglected to see your first time viewing the film. Yes, I know "it's a movie," but it's just not a good one.
Cracked.com - Although this Web site deals with many other random trivia besides film, its articles about the cinema are some of the most clever and sophisticated I've read. This is sad, because I'm convinced the entire staff is high for most of the day. But hey, history proves that drugs lead to some of the greatest ingenuities and innovations. How else would a writer think of an article like, "10 Scenes of Brutal Violence Guaranteed to Make you Laugh"? Or you can check out my personal favorite, "5 Terrible Life Lessons Hollywood Loves to Teach You." They even have the "Most Difficult Movie Drinking Games Ever," which might be useful to read in case you ever want to try to drink every time someone spits when they talk in Scarface.
Either way, if you're feeling down one day and feel like a good laugh, go to one of these sites. They will make you feel stupid by making fun of your favorite films and will pretty much ruin your day. It's great fun. Oh, and, site administrators - I'll take that cash.
