After a week of speculation, it appears that Ashlee Simpson is engaged, definitely, and pregnant, maybe. Last Thursday, Us Weekly exclusively broke the news that Simpson and boyfriend Pete Wentz were engaged. The musical duo has been dating since late 2006. But don't bother looking for a ring in the tabloid pictures: Simpson said that her fiance did a great job picking the rock, but it didn't quite fit right, so she is having it resized.
The happy engagement news has been overshadowed by a rumor that a shotgun wedding is being lined up to cover an unplanned pregnancy. Simpson appeared on TRL Tuesday afternoon and refused to answer the question directly. "I think it's an inappropriate question to ask any woman," she said, only fueling the fire. Is that a yes or no to the pregnancy?
New fiance, Wentz, didn't help matters by telling MTV News, "there is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood." Yet again, neither confirming nor denying the rumor. Even People, regarded as the most reliable magazine, finally reported Tuesday evening that Simpson is pregnant. According to People, a source close to the family said a ceremony will take place during May in La Jolla, Calif., at a friend's home.
It looks like Nina Garcia has been "auf'ed." And for all you non-Project Runway fans, that's Heidi-speak for "out." On Friday, the news was leaked that Garcia had been let go from her position as fashion director at Elle magazine. No official comment has been made, but information has been leaking from sources all week on PerezHilton.com. On Tuesday, a source close to Garcia confirmed that she was indeed fired, and it may be due to her popularity on television. "She became too busy with Project Runway the last year or two," the insider said. Apparently, her two assistants have been doing all the heavy lifting. They were even kind enough to help with the moving boxes.
Cate Blanchett and writer-director hubby Andrew Upton welcomed their third son last Sunday. As first reported by Australian magazine WHO, Ignatius Martin was born at a hospital in Sydney. The couple resides Down Under with Ignatius and his two big brothers, Dashiell Joan and Roman Robert. When a very pregnant Cate walked the Oscar red carpet, little Ignatius slept through the whole thing. "He's actually asleep, believe it or not, which bodes well," she said. Congrats, Cate!
