1. Sweet enuff: BC bOp!

The classy jazz band is performing this Friday in the Cabaret Room on the first floor of Vanderslice Hall at 8 p.m. The talented group always entertains with their renditions of all the old favorites. If the musical enticement isn't enough, there promises to be some delicious desserts and even swing dancing for those who attend.

2. Live @ Carney's

Wishing you could attend more concerts this semester? It won't get any more convenient or affordable than the free show taking place in Carney's Dining Hall in McElroy on Friday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. The Boston College band, This Blue Heaven, will perform along with local acts Micah and Sean Quinn. There's even an opportunity to win iTunes gift certificates.

3. A Night at the rock opera

For those of you who didn't pick up on the Queen reference, this event is all about classic rock. The Ultrasonic Rock Orchestra is performing a variety of songs by Queen, The Beatles, The Who, and others in their performance at the Wilbur Theater in Boston this weekend. On top of that, students have the opportunity to get a discounted price if you buy a ticket at the door one hour before the show. With a valid student ID you can bypass all that Ticketmaster frustration, and see the show for just $25.

4. The Decemberists

For all those in the "out crowd" that would rather head into the city for a concert than a hyped sporting event, there's one hell of a ticket waiting for you at the Orpheum Theatre. Portland indie "story-rockers" The Decemberists are taking the stage on Saturday night for what promises to be a lively show. The band has a tendency to dress up in costumes and talk about the Freedom Trail. Cool, right? There's still tickets available too, so get on it.

5. Opened Night

The Chocolate Bar isn't just a place to hang out in between classes. On Friday night, it's hosting an Open Mic night from 9 p.m. to midnight, a free event sponsored by the Korean Student Association and Nights on the Heights. Leave your stage fright at home! Sing, dance, act - make it memorable! If you don't think the world is quite ready for your talents, you can enjoy the half-priced fondue and watch the show.
