According to a report by the Greensboro News-Record, Boston College senior forward Jared Dudley has been named ACC Player of the Year. Dudley received 45 out of a possible 106 votes by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association, narrowly beating Florida State's Al Thornton, who was second with 30 votes.
Dudley became the sixth player in BC history to score 2000 points in the Eagles' loss to Georgia Tech on Sunday afternoon. He finished the regular season second in the ACC in points per game (19.3) and first in the conference in rebounding (8.5 per game).
"It's clear that he makes a significant difference in our club in everything that we do, and all the success that we have, the ball goes through him," coach Al Skinner told the News-Record. "Without him, we wouldn't even have a chance to compete in this league."
Dudley and the Eagles finished 19-10 (10-6 in the ACC), good enough for a four seed, and a first round bye in the ACC Tournament. They will play the winner of the Maryland/Miami game on Friday afternoon at 2 pm in the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida.
