Whenever a new coaching regime comes in, there are always bumps and rough spots in the early going. For Boston College, one of the early bumps came up this week as offensive line coach Jim Turner has reportedly taken a leave of absence from the squad.
Turner, BC '88, started as an Eagles fullback for two years.
Turner, who captained the BC football team during his days on the Heights, had been brought in following coaching stints at Northeastern, Louisiana Tech, Harvard, Temple, and Delaware prior to beginning at BC.
Turner reportedly cleaned out his office Wednesday evening and did not attend the team's practice the following day.
According to head coach Jeff Jagodzinski, no official announcement has been made regarding Turner's resignation.
This comes after the resignation of two other BC football officials: assistant director of football operations Jill Hegarty took a position in the private sector, as reported by The Boston Globe, and recruiting assistant Nick Uhlenhopp accepted a position as director of football operations at Western Kentucky University.
BC's offense, which is currently undergoing significant changes, may suffer another setback if Turner resigns.
The offensive line has seen the most significant changes as it adjusts to an entirely new blocking scheme under Jagodzinski, and it has shown signs of struggle in making the transition.
The spring game will showcase Steve Logan and Jagodzinski's new offense, which has promised to be more exciting than that of the Tom O'Brien regime.
BC will continue its spring practice through the end of this upcoming week, culminating in the Jay McGillis Memorial spring game on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
