A British rower was attempting to record the fastest west-to-east crossing of the Atlantic Ocean. When he arrived in Southern England last week, he just missed the record of 62 days ... doubling it by coming in at 124. In fact, his attempt backfired as he actually recorded the slowest time ever recorded for the feat. He has plans to now be first person to row the southern span of the ocean - and hopefully not the slowest.

11:39 p.m. - A report was filed regarding a party that was trapped in an elevator in O'Neill Library. The party was freed without incident and repairs were made.

10:34 p.m. - A report was filed regarding a fire alarm activation at 110 St. Thomas More Road. The cause of the alarm was a result of burnt cooking. The area was ventilated and the fire alarm system was reset.

12:04 a.m. - A report was filed regarding a suspicious circumstance. The matter will be investigated further.

Ishmael Beah was drafted as a child soldier during Sierra Leone's civil war in the mid 1990s. Today, he will speak about his experiences in the army and the abuses of human rights that happened during the war. Beah is also the author of A Long Way Gone, his memoir.

The kickoff event for BC's first ever Fair Trade fair will feature free Ben & Jerry's ice cream and presentations by various on- and off-campus groups.
