Men's basketball

Craig Smith was named to the 2003-04 preseason All-Big East second team. Smith had an excellent freshman campaign, earning a spot on the All-Rookie first team. He started in 28 games, averaging 19.9 points and 7.9 rebounds. He led the Big East in field-goal percentage, shooting 60.8 percent from the field.

Women's basketball

The Big East women's basketball preseason poll was released this past week, with the Eagles finishing fifth in preseason standings.

Jessalyn Deveny earned a spot on the preseason All-Big East Second Team. Deveny averaged 16.9 points and 5.9 rebounds in 2002-03, leading BC in overall scoring. The Eagles had one of their best seasons last year, making the Sweet 16 for the first time.

Women's rowing

The women's rowing team competed in the Princeton three-mile Chase last week. The Eagles had a respectable showing in the two events of the Chase. BC's Championship Four boat finished 13th out of 51 racers.
