Sept. 23, 1966: Chair of classics dept.dismissed without reason given Rev. Robert F. Healey, S.J., chairman of the classics department, was dismissed from the Boston College faculty and transferred to Fairfield University. University President Rev. Michael Walsh, S.J., gave no specific reason for the transfer, saying that it is school policy to not divulge the reasons for dismissing a non-tenured professor. Two courses taught formerly by Healey have been cancelled, while the Roman History elective has been picked up by Robert Renahan. "This is not the end of the classics department. Boston College will continue to have a classics department, and we hope that it will be a very strong one," said Walsh.
