Sept. 10, 1973: Board of Trustees announce tuition increase of $150 The Boston College Board of Trustees approved a tuition raise of $150, making the total cost of tuition and board for the 1974-1975 academic year $3,450. The increase was attacked by Tomas Flynn, president of the Undergraduate Government of BC and BC '74. "The decision bypassed the Budget Committee, which is the legitimately constituted body to deal with the tuition question and which has done its job fairly in the past. The administration used a committee of administrators to reach its hasty decision, bypassing students and faculty in the process." The raise came out of a recommendation from the University Long Range Fiscal Planning Committee, a group created by University President J. Donald Monan, S.J., to retain financial stability.
