Edward Taylor, an accounting professor in CSOM, won the 2004 Mary Kaye Waldron award, which recognizes a professor who has demonstrated a commitment to the values and Jesuit ideals of Boston College. A committee made up entirely of students selected Taylor out of 130 nominated professors because of his dedication to students inside and outside of the classroom.
Student leaders have been awarding the Waldron award since 1996.
Taylor said he was pleasantly surprised when he learned of his award. "I was shocked. I had no idea I had even been nominated, but it's quite an honor," he said.Taylor impressed the selections committee with his dedication to students. He is the faculty adviser to the Boston College Accounting Academy and coordinator for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, which sends students out into the community to assist the needy and elderly prepare their annual tax returns.
As faculty adviser, Taylor acts as liason between CSOM students and major accounting firms that many students covet a job with after graduation.
Taylor graduated from BC in 1981.
