Police were out in full force Saturday night responding to two separate incidents on campus.

The first incident occurred on Saturday during the African Student Organization (ASO) Dance.

"Last night a non-BC student was arrested for trespassing and resisting arrest at the ASO Dance," said Jack Dunn, University spokesman, confirming a report from the Boston College Police Department (BCPD).

"There was an overflow crowd in the [Vanderslice] Cabaret Room; more people had arrived than they had expected. They anticipated 100 people and had over 200. The suspect tried to enter, but was turned away by a police officer at the door. He tried to walk in, did not have a BC ID, and the police informed him that it was BC [students] only. He continued to try to get in and was arrested," said Dunn.

ASO officials did not return phone calls from The Heights by the time of publication.

In a separate incident early Sunday, the BCPD responded to a fight in the Mods. The party had over 150 confirmed guests as of Friday on Facebook and was crowded with freshmen. At approximately 1 a.m., one attendee struck another in the face, causing bleeding.

"I was standing in the middle of the Mod and I could see someone hit someone. Two groups broke out holding the two kids back," said a source who wished to remain anonymous. The source also reported the incident to the BCPD.

Trying to end the fight, residents of the Mod told the people fighting to "take it outside."

"They pushed them out the front door," according to The Heights' source. "They started to try to run back into the Mod, but this kid threw his body weight into the door and opened it. BCPD responded to the scene with about three or four officers."

Arriving on scene, officers began breaking up the group. "They started pulling this group apart and some kid started running from the Mods, towards [Corcoran Commons] and then out towards the Mod Lot," said the source. Three responding officers pursued the person fleeing the scene.

After numerous attempts, the BCPD did not respond to The Heights regarding the incident by the time of publication.
