Tim Russert, moderator of NBC's award-winning Meet the Press and the Washington bureau chief of NBC news, will be on campus tonight to discuss journalism and politics with students and alums in the Shea Room in Conte Forum. Meet the Press - A conversation with Tim Russert, sponsored by The Heights, is an hour-long event that begins at 7 p.m.
Russert will be interviewed onstage by Heights Editor-in-Chief Ryan Heffernan, A&S '06. Time will also be devoted to answer audience questions.
"Tim Russert's an amazing journalist and its an honor to have someone of his stature come speak about the craft of journalism," said Heffernan.
Russert has moderated Meet the Press since 1991. It's in its 58th year, making it the longest running show in the history of network television. In addition to his work on Meet the Press and as the Washington bureau chief, he anchors The Tim Russert Show on CNBC, is a contributing political analyst for NBC Nightly News and the Today Show, and is senior vice president of NBC news.
Russert delivered the commencement address at BC for the class of 2004 and was the moderator at the kick off of the second year of the Church in the 21st Century initiative in 2003.
He has earned numerous accolades for his work at NBC. In 2001, Washington Magazine called Meet the Press, "the most interesting and important hour on television" while calling Russert the best and most influential journalist in Washington.
