The Woman Behind the Music

Bonnie Jefferson, a well-known professor in the communication department, admittedly had trouble selecting her 10 songs. After confessing that her daughter had to load her iPod because she doesn't "have those genes," she also says that she could have easily picked 100 songs rather than just 10. Because of her love of show tunes, she had to select both "La Vie Boheme" from Rent - because she loves the message of acceptance - and "Cell Block Tango" from Chicago, which she admits is "outrageous, fun, and empowering." Additionally, although she loves all of Billy Joel's songs, she chose "Piano Man" because it's a "beautiful narrative about people in a bar." All in all, Jefferson's eclectic selections prove that the communication department has good taste in music.
