2 and half stars Into the blue Dir. by John Stockwell Columbia Pictures
Into the Blue, starring Paul Walker and Jessica Alba, is an orgy of strategically placed bathing suits, predictable plot twists, and an unnecessary amount of shark attacks.
Jared (Walker) and Sam (Alba) work at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas and while moonlighting as treasure hunters, they finally hit their big break when they come across the remnants of a legendary treasure ship.
There's only one small problem - it's located right next to a crashed plane with white, powdery "treasure" of its own. What to do, what to do?
Watching the internal moral struggle of these scantily-clad 20-somethings and their friends takes up a good 45 minutes that I will never get back.
The most thrilling parts of the first half of the movie are really just the amount of exposed flesh, however, once the owners of said treasure discover that these crazy kids have found it, the movie turns into a drug dealer infested gore marathon before you can say "ho. lay. overkill!"
Most of Alba's acting is weak, but her chemistry with Walker is genuine enough to make you miss the presence of a super tan and toned make out buddy in your own life.
And there is actually a bit of humor interspersed with all the serene underwater scenes and thrilling action moments, but it's not so much "haha" as it is "heh."
If you want to spend about $10 on a movie that might entertain you, then go ahead, but don't expect to get anything out of it.
Into the Blue is just another reminder that you need to get back to the gym.
