Tracking the progress of a runner who logs the hours and mileage to complete 26.2 miles, one of the world's longest races and cultural phenomenon in Boston.

Christy Berkery, A&S '06, has completed an 18-week training program in preparation for the Chicago Marathon, which she ran on Oct. 9. The program was designed for those who have never run a marathon before. Miles have been mapped out to prepare anyone to complete a marathon if they stay on target with their training. The goal is completion rather than achieving specific times. Here is how she did:

Chip time: 4 hours, 11 minutes, and 46 seconds

Placement: 13,566 out of 33,012 finishing runners - 40,000 runners signed up and 6,988 runners either failed to show up or did not finish the race - Placement in gender: 3,960

Pace: averaged a 9:36 minute mile
