Kuechly's Case

Posted by Adam Rose With little to look forward to this football season, who would expect a freshman linebacker who showed up - not in the second semester of last year, but in the summer - to become the reason for hope and excitement at Boston College. Thank you, Luke Kuechly. Luke graduated from St. Xavier High School in Cinncinnati and was one of the feature names in the incoming freshman class. Even Kuechly himself didn’t think he’d get much playing time. Mike McLaughlin tore his Achilles tendon in spring practice and Will Thompson got hurt in summer practices, opening the door for Kuechly. Head coach Al Skinner claims it was a violation of team rules. When pressed in a postgame interview, he offhandedly stated, “What did we say? Team rules? Yeah, that’s what it was.” The secrecy is getting old. The 2006 season was Sean Williams, and we all know how that turned out. The next two years began with Tyrese Rice on the bench. And now the Eagles have three more playing spectator for “a violation of team rules.” Instead of a...
