C-CERT Prepares Students, Community For Disasters

Eagle EMS engages in disaster drills in conjunction with the BC Office of Emergency Management and the C-CERT team at least once per semester.

“Through this process, our members are extremely well prepared and possess the knowledge to provide lifesaving care to members of our community under the most unfortunate of circumstances,” Wickersham said.

Wickersham urges the BC community to personally prepare for all types of emergencies, and encourages people to think along the lines of, “If I didn’t have power or running water for 12 hours, what would I want to have?”

Whether this preparedness entails taking the C-CERT course, packing a basic kit of supplies to grab on the way out of the door in case of a building evacuation, or preparing mentally for an event, it is vital that everyone be prepared.

Modstock

Today

Time: 3:30 p.m.

Location: The Mod Lot

UGBC will host the annual Modstock this afternoon. Lucid Soul, the winner of BC’s Battle of the Bands, will open the event, followed by Aer, and finally, the much-anticipated Macklemore. Gates to the Mod Lot will open at 3:30 p.m. and close at 5:15 p.m.

Last Five Walk

Friday

Time: 10 a.m.

Location: The Mod Lot and Reservoir

To honor those lost and affected by the Boston Marathon bombings, two BC students created “The Last 5.” The event will include a brief ceremony in the Mod Lot followed by a walk around the Reservoir. T-shirts will be on sale, with all proceeds going to victim relief funds.

Core Proposal Meeting

Sunday

Time: 6 p.m.

Location: Murray Function Room

A Town Hall meeting will be held for the new core proposal. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and members of the core proposal team will be available to provide feedback on the changes. Information on the core proposal is available on the bc.edu website.
