“That would be crazy if we went through—cause if anything happened where we had a new coach next year, usually everything underneath it changes,” Rettig said. “It’s been nice to at least have some consistency for one year. We’ve done a lot for just having this offense for a year and a spring. It’d be nice to see what we could do with it the whole offseason, a spring, and then a whole other summer camp and then season.”
Ultimately the players know that a lot of the near future with the coaching position is out of their hands, and they are ready to do whatever it takes—regardless of who their coach is—to get their team back on track.
“Whatever happens, happens,” said wide receiver Alex Amidon. “We just got to make sure that, as players, we can come together and make sure the best thing comes out of whatever happens. It’s really on the players to keep the team together. I think we have to do a better job of that next year.”
