Barros and Foley part of latest Varsity Club Hall of Fame inductees

NEEDHAM, Mass. - There were Boston College football helmets in the glass cases lining the halls of the hotel, alumni giving cheers to the celebratory cause, and handshakes accompanying backslaps. Banners dressed the walls in maroon and gold, an atmosphere of memory engulfed the ballroom.

Call it a Clash of the Boston College Titans. Or the Power Gym Pie-a-Palooza. There are plenty of big sporting events happening all over BC this year.

The largest crowd to pack the Power Gym this season was looking forward to cheering on the Eagles to an upset win. Unfortunately, two-time defending ACC champion No. 26 Maryland stood on the other side of the net. Despite a tough battle from the Eagles, the Terrapins were simply too much to handle on their way to winning in straight sets (30-27, 30-16, 30-28).

Sidelined from last weekend's come from behind win against Wake Forest, Mathias Kiwanuka still has been an anchor for the Eagles' fifth ranked rushing defense and a leader on the team. He's logged 23 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two pass break ups, and a forced fumble.

Alison Foley knew. The interviews were wrapped up, cameras turned off, and her players were nowhere in sight. Foley stood there, taking in the scene, looking at the maintenance staff clean up the stands. Earlier that evening, the aluminum stands were full, fans of soccer took in a match-up of two top-10 nationally ranked teams.
