Six years ago, Boston College affirmed its Jesuit values and commitment to social justice by joining the Worker Rights Consortium, an independent monitoring body for sweatshops around the world. By aligning with the WRC, BC pledged that its apparel would come from factories that upheld workers' rights and respected ethical standards.

I am sure that many are familiar with the Zoolander scene when Derek Zoolander gleefully runs onstage to accept his VH1 Fashion Awards Male Model of the Year award, completely oblivious to the fact it was instead meant for rival Hansel.

After reading last Thursday's Heights coverage of the Martin Luther King, Jr., memorial, I felt the need to put my quoted comments into context. What follows is the message I shared with the Boston College community last Wednesday evening: It amazes me how the name of this Southern son of a preacher man is often mentioned among those of our nation's founding fathers and past presidents.
