It's been a busy couple of weeks for Boston College Athletics and the ACC - the campus has hardly had an opportunity to catch its breath. With two close calls in Conte, College Gameday's live broadcast, and Dick Vitale signing Superfan shirts, students could not help but turn their attention to the basketball team's arduous run.

Judgment Week has not been kind to our Catholic institution. Despite the fact that this must-win game fell on one of the holiest days of the year, Boston College could find no salvation and was routed, 79-62, by Virginia Tech yesterday. The last time these two teams met, the results were the exact opposite, and the surging Eagles walked away with the blowout win.

This weekend, cheers, flowers, and tears will flow through Conte Forum, as Boston College says goodbye to the basketball class of 2007. The men's basketball team will take the floor for the last time this season on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Clemson, while the women's team will take their turn against Maryland on Sunday at 3 p.

They couldn't compete with the size as the crowds at Kentucky or Kansas, but those fans who showed up at Conte Forum for ESPN's College Gameday last Saturday morning were some of Boston College's finest. From 11 a.m. to noon, ESPN took over Conte Forum, airing its weekly show from BC to the delight of an estimated 1,000 BC Superfans in attendance.

I've always hated Senior Day. Sure, I love the chance to honor seniors who have poured their hearts and souls into Boston College basketball for four years, working their you-know-whats off to squeeze out as many wins as possible - and certainly, Jared Dudley and Sean Marshall can never be accused of not giving their all for a win.
