TAMPA, Fla. - Before traveling down to Tampa for the ACC Tournament, North Carolina head coach Roy Williams showed his young team last year's banner listing the accomplishments of the 2005-2006 squad. "NCAA Tournament, that's all it says. This year's banner is going to say regular season champions … maybe it'll have a chance to say something else," said Williams.

With Boston College down by 14 points to the University of Miami early in the second half, and Jared Dudley still without a field goal, Rice willed the Eagles back into the game with an array of clutch shots. This year's Senior Night for the Eagles is a little preemptive, as this senior class is far from bidding its final farewell. In last weekend's sweep of UMass-Lowell, Jerry York's squad captured home ice for the Hockey East Playoffs. As the Boston College seniors take the ice against New Hampshire for their final regular season game this Saturday, they will be honored for their accomplishments thus far - but their focus will be squarely on the future.

Following Friday night's easy 7-1 win over Northeastern at Kelley Rink, Jerry York had reason to relax, if only for a day. "As I've told these guys before, one of the best Saturdays of the year is when you wake up, you've swept the [Hockey East quarterfinal] series in two games, and you know you're carrying your team into the Garden," said the longtime Boston College hockey coach.

The Boston College men's hockey team continued to roll this weekend, collecting its fifth and sixth consecutive victories in a whitewashing of the No. 3-ranked New Hampshire Wildcats. New Hampshire, which had already claimed the Hockey East title, gave an effort of a team that had nothing to play for.

St. Joseph's University in New Hampshire has learned that, when your school does not provide funding for a football program, there are other options: adoption. Infertile no more, the student newspaper of St. Joseph's University announced yesterday that it has chosen to adopt Boston College's football team.
Jessica Wilson and Michelle Lombardi have played a key role in a program's rise to national prominance
By Joseph Gravellese
Seniors Michelle Lombardi and Jess Wilson - the last remaining members of what was an eight-player freshman class for BC women's ice hockey in 2003-2004 - have just about seen it all in their four seasons at the Heights. "We had a pretty big freshmen class - if you asked me freshman year which of us would still be here, I wouldn't have said us two," says Lombardi.

With all due respect to those who have gone before me, there is no debate in my mind. March is the most wonderful time of the year. Let's start at the beginning - today. March 1 marks the beginning of Championship Week, the week where mid-major hopes and dreams are either filled or burst.

Before every game, the men's ice hockey team listens to a particular song to get everyone ready to play. You'd think it'd be some AC/DC track, something like "Thunderstruck" or "Hells Bells." The Boston College team, however, takes a different route when it comes to pre-game routines.
