The master keys to CLXF, the largest freshman residence hall, were declared missing on Sunday afternoon by staff members of the Office of Residential Life. "We discovered the keys missing on Sunday afternoon and immediately contacted BCPD," said Henry Humphreys, director of the Office of Residential Life.
With 855 students, popularity makes record

After years of being close, finance has finally overtaken communication as the most popular area of study at Boston College. This marks the first time in University history that a major outside of the College of Arts and Sciences has held the top spot. While A&S is still the most popular school in terms of student enrollment, the Carroll School of Management's finance concentration boasts 855 enrolled students, a 25-year high.

The Lynch School of Education and the Institute of Religious Education and Pastoral Ministry (IREPM) have launched a program for the education of Catholic educators and administrators. The program teaches graduate students in all levels of education, from kindergarten to the university level, and offers three degree options: Master of Arts degree in higher education with a concentration in catholic university leadership, an Master of Education degree in religious education with a concentration in catholic school leadership, and a Master of Education degree in Educational administration and catholic school leadership.

With the passing of Columbus Day weekend, the visitations of prospective students are coming into full swing. Their demands play a significant role in how universities choose to revamp their programs, specifically in areas such as research. In a recent poll of current undergraduate students from around the country conducted by The New York Times, 90 percent of those surveyed said that reputation was either very or somewhat important when they were weighing their choices on college; 48 percent also said that research opportunities factored into their decision.

Although a recent Harvard Graduate School of Education research project stated that faculty are more satisfied at public, rather than private, institutions, faculty at Boston College find the Jesuit tradition most rewarding. For many, it comes down to the merits of a particular university more than the issue of public or private.

These were the words uttered by Burmese protestors last month - only to be crushed by government forces in a brutal crackdown that killed thousands and has caught the attention of the world. In fact, most observers would say that the Burmese government has had little affinity for kindness, cracking down on the nonviolent protests of the country's Buddhist community through the murder and imprisonment of over 6,000 monks.

Catholic studies is a discipline that has become a staple at both private and public universities across the country. This year, Boston College is also offering Catholic studies as an interdisciplinary minor, one of the last of the United States' 28 Jesuit colleges and universities to do so.
