Youth vote has potential to swing close election

College campuses have always been hotbeds for political discussion and debate, and with the zeal and fervor that traditionally accompany election years, it is likely this trend will continue in 2008. Youth voter turnout has already proven critical for the 2008 primaries in both New Hampshire and Iowa, as a surge of 18-to-24 year-old voters continue to look for a candidate who supports their needs and addresses the issues important to them as the future leaders of the country.
Neighbors react to Master Plan housing provisions

Neighbors at Tuesday night's Allston-Brighton Boston College task force meeting reacted in a variety of ways. Some were upset, others out of control, and supporters were few and far between. Kevin Carragee, a member of the task force and a former BC professor who left the University after he was denied tenure, began the meeting by making a motion to pass a resolution condemning the offensive language directed toward Eva Webster and Michael Phare, both Brighton residents.

Washington D.C. - On a chilly, overcast day in the nation's capital, over 100,000 people gathered on the National Mall to protest the 35th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade case, which upheld the right to obtain an abortion in the United States. For those students who attended the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Gathering on Monday, it was a day of remembrance and commemoration. Rev. Howard McLendon of Campus Ministry orchestrated a rousing, two-hour memorial service open to students, faculty, and the public for King and his memory.

When Dia Philippides discusses her work, both at Boston College and beyond, her face lights up. It is not a secret that she loves what she does. As a student, Philippides first came to BC to pursue two master's degrees in classical studies after attending Radcliffe for her undergraduate degree.

The Boston College Chief Executives' Club of Boston ranks second among the top forums in the world for CEOs, according to a new study released by New York-based public relations firm Weber Shandwick. The Chief Executives' Club of Boston is the foremost forum in the nation for such events and is surpassed globally only by the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Despite the snow that has all of Boston swathed in white, the joint efforts of Ecopledge and the Boston College Dining Services have the BC campus looking just a little bit greener. In an attempt to make campus more eco-friendly, the two organizations worked together to initiate a new system for sorting waste and trash in Carney's Dining Hall for the new year.

The Jenks Leadership Program (JLP) has been relaunched as a part of the Winston Center for Ethics and Leadership within the Carroll School of Management. The program, which in previous years was largely student-run, went on a hiatus in 2003 due to organizational detriments.
