Longboards, mini ramps, sun-bleached hair, and the ideal guardrail don't exactly come to mind when one thinks of Boston. That has not stopped the skateboarding scene from staking its claim here, however, and the movement does not show signs of stopping."In California, 75 percent of people skateboard. That's just the way we get around," Katrina Vasquez, CSOM '10, says. "Here, the same is easily possible; it's just that the concept hasn't caught on yet. But I see it coming."

Megan Meier became one of the first publicly recognized victims of cyber bullying. At age 13, she committed suicide after being electronically attacked by a neighbor's mother and girls in her community through the anonymity of one Josh Evans, a fictional Myspace creation.

In today's world, the word "competitive" is not just a characteristic one may possess, it is a lifestyle. More and more recently, being a smart, well-rounded high school student is often not enough to get into their college of choice. All of this hype revolves around parental hopes that their child will have a better shot at getting into their most coveted school, a once manageable goal that is becoming increasingly difficult.

Professor Michael Keith has a real taste for adventure. When school breaks, you'll either find him braving the rapids down the Colorado River or exploring Russia. His all-time favorite vacation was embarking on a safari during a three-week stay in Tanzania, East Africa.

For some reason, communication majors get no respect around this campus. As a fellow commie (no relation to our friends who are obsessed with Karl Marx and the color red), I can't say it doesn't make me madder than Kanye West at an awards show when someone tells me my major is easy and useless.

It was a typical day - go to class, trip over nothing in O'Neill plaza, play some Jenga - when checking my Gmail, I discovered another notice from McAfee: "Final Warning: Your PC Is At Risk. RENEW NOW." Despite the damning evidence in the subject title, I'm usually responsible with managing my computer updates.

College can be a trying time for many. Between homework, clubs, sports, social gatherings, relationships, and anything else that goes on, there's a lot of baggage that students have to deal with. Some people cannot handle it; they are simply crushed by all of the emotional weight they have to carry.

Hear a bell, run like hell. Welcome to Amsterdam, where crossing the street can result in a near-death experience. Arriving in a strange city is a disorienting ordeal; in addition to having its own individual design, each city has a distinct energy that one must adjust to or risk forever sticking out as a tourist.

At some point last week, you might have been asked, "Who is Dane Cook?" You knew he was a regular on Comedy Central, including the insanely funny puppet show Crank Yankers. You knew he was a pretty famous stand-up comedian, but he didn't really have the crossover recognition of a Dave Chappelle or a Jim Breuer.

I've recently turned 21. My best friend and roommate has been 21 for some time now but never really goes out to bars. Since I turned 21, I have been going out more and relying less on on-campus partying. He, on the other hand, prefers to invite everyone he knows over to our Mod every weekend. Since I am no longer relying on our parties, I haven't been hanging around for them. He has been greatly annoyed by my decision and feels that I'm jumping ship now that I'm legal. How do I tell him that I'd rather not have parties at our place every weekend and prefer to keep it cleaner?
