Lady Eagles move into fifth place with win over Georgia Tech

In a battle for fifth place in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets refused to go down without a fight. The Boston College women's basketball team was ready, however, and managed to pull off a 62-53 victory on "Think Pink" night at Conte Forum.

Boston College men's hockey (16-7-7, 10-5-6) faces University of New Hampshire (19-7-2, 15-4-2) this weekend for the second and third of three regular-season appearances of the season. UNH currently sits atop the Hockey East with 32 points; BC is second with 26 points, precariously above Providence and Northeastern each with 24.

The lady Eagles' 62-53 win over Georgia Tech on Monday night was meaningful on a number of levels. It ended a difficult three-game losing steak. The night itself was special as well, as Boston College was celebrating the "Think Pink" initiative. The event raised awareness for breast cancer, and all fans wearing pink were granted free admission; consequently, a packed house at Conte Forum witnessed BC's victory.

The month of February is, traditionally, the dead month in sports - football is over, spring training is just starting, and not even the real Superman winning the slam dunk contest by sort of dunking from the foul line while wearing his cape could make the NBA interesting.
