Sellout crowd of 600 boards annual ALC Boat Cruise Saturday

From the glamorous ladies to the dapper fellows, the annual AHANA Leadership Council (ALC) Boat Cruise started the year off right. A sellout crowd of 600 boarded the Spirit of Boston to cruise around the harbor for two hours, complete with food, friends, and dancing.
Strathmore apartment fire leaves at least nine BC students homeless

At least nine Boston College students were displaced following a fire in their apartment at 11 Strathmore Road early Friday morning. Firefighters believe that the fire, deemed accidental, stemmed from a smoldering charcoal grill located on a rooftop deck. No serious injuries were reported, and no criminal charges will be filed against residents or their visitors.

Nate Mellor, A&S '11, was asleep when he said he heard a faint call from someone yelling fire. "I looked out and saw fire reflected in the windows of the house across the street," he said.

Convocation activities of Thursday marked the start of four years at Boston College for members of the class of 2012. Coming together for the first of two ceremonial "bookend" parades through campus, freshmen were encouraged to make the most of the liberal education lying before them and build a community of their peers.

Last Friday, a sea of students wearing red flooded the O'Neill Plaza for the Support Love Rally. The event, co-sponsored by Allies and the GLBTQ Leadership Council (GLC), attracted a crowd over 100 strong. Friday marked the inaugural meeting of the Boston College Symposia on Interreligious Dialogue, sponsored by the BC theology department, the Church in the 21st Century Center, and the newly created School of Theology and Ministry. It was the first in a series of lectures scheduled to take place over the next five years that will focus on the commonalities between different religious traditions and promote the open exchange of ideas between peoples of varying faiths.
