Last week, the Sustainable Endowments Institute announced the results of its 2009 Sustainability Report Card. Boston College received an overall grade of B minus, an improvement on the C earned on last year's assessment. In 2007, BC was given a C minus. The institute graded 300 schools, with the largest endowments ranging from approximately $150 million to $35 billion.

A recent survey illustrates an increased interest in careers in teaching among people in different professions. According to the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, 42 percent of college-educated 24 to 60 year-olds working in other fields said that they would consider teaching as a career.

In a recent study by the Global Language Monitor, Boston College placed among the top 15 in a ranking of the nation's most publicized universities. The Global Language Monitor, a Texas-based company that documents, analyzes, and tracks trends in language across the world, ranked the colleges and universities according to their appearances in the global print and electronic media, the Internet, and throughout the blogosphere.
