Players, DeFillipo, and Jagodzinski optimistic and excited

Will Boston College finally be saying hello to a BCS bowl? That seemed to be the consensus after Jeff Jagodzinski was introduced as the program's 33rd head football coach Wednesday night. The 43-year-old offensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers could not have been more enthusiastic about beginning his second stint on the Heights.

The Christmas Tree in front of O'Neill Plaza officially returned along with the snow Monday to mark the return of the holiday season at Boston College. University President Rev. William P. Leahy, S.J., spoke briefly to the roughly 400 students who gathered in O'Neill Plaza to witness the annual lighting of the famed tree.

Last month, students berated and walked out on an Israeli journalist who came to Boston College because of his perceived bias, while tearing up pro-Israeli literature outside of the event.. A week later, police were present when a pro-Palestinian speaker came to counter the presentation.
Conservation proposal goes before trustees

In an effort to continue a University-wide trend toward energy conservation, Ecopledge members Katie Cava, A&S '08, and Katherine Walsh, A&S '08, presented a comprehensive proposal to a Board of Trustees subcommittee Nov. 30. The energy conservation initiative and clean energy policy would not only save Boston College considerable sums of money, but would also reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming.

New details concerning a violent altercation involving several Boston University hockey players reveal that the incident was not a random attack as previously thought. The initial confrontation occurred around 3 a.m. on Saturday night outside of a residence on Wadsworth Street in Allsston.

In the spirit of the season, the Office of Graduate Student Life is hosting a Toys for Tots drive to benefit local children. As a campus-wide effort, students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped, non-violent toys for children from the ages of 0-10 years old.

Braving the cold weather, students piled into Hillside Café Tuesday night to hear Rev. Jack Butler, S.J., speak about poverty, chastity, and obedience as a part of the religious life for December's Church in the 21st Century (C21) Agape Latte series. Butler framed the conversation in three parts: the history of religious life, his definition of certain related terms, and why people choose to enter a religious life.

With December's arrival on Boston College's campus comes small subtleties such as the lit tree in front of Gasson Hall, the inclusion of gingerbread-flavored coffee in the dining halls, and the adornment of twinkle lights gleaming through residence hall windows that constantly remind students of the upcoming holiday season.
