Boston College has been slated to host a showing of Will Ferrell's Funny or Die Comedy Tour, presented by Semi-Pro, the Undergraduate Government of BC programming department announced today. The national tour, scheduled to coincide with the release of Ferrell's new movie,
Semi-Pro, will take place Feb. 13, 2008 in Conte Forum.
"We have been sitting on this idea since July," said Erica Reisenwitz, UGBC executive director of programming and A&S '08. "It's so exciting to finally tell people."
The show will begin at 6 p.m. and will most likely include sketch comedy, stand-up acts, and video screenings. There are also performers coming with Ferrell, although Reisenwitz said she does not know who they will be or how the show itself will run exactly. Ticketing is also to be determined, and the student body will receive e-mails from the UGBC regarding further show details as they become available.
Ferrell, most well-known for his performances in recent movies including
Blades of Glory,
Anchorman, and
Elf, as well as on
Saturday Night Live, is an Emmy- and Academy Award-nominated comedian with over 30 film credits to his name.
"Will had said he wanted to do this tour at one university in each region," Reisenwitz said. "This is a great early Christmas present for the UGBC to give to the entire student body."
