Tuesday, I left McGuinn Hall inspired. Worries about assignments, tests, and activities receded to mere tasks waiting to be completed. Listening to motivational speaker Travis Roy tell us his story about the fatal 11 seconds that shattered his dreams and how he was able to overcome his paralysis was inspiring, to say the least. Travis, who had begun playing hockey when he was just 20 months old, stepped onto BU's hockey rink with the intent of playing his first college hockey game.

Any way you cut it, it's been a long, cold winter. Forget the record snowfall, the inches-thick sheet of ice that coated most of campus for the better part of two months, the treacherous trips back and forth to class across O'Neill Plaza and up and down the million-dollar stairs.

Empty faces, blank stares, despondence aching in eyes that look through you into the unknown. Immobile people operating in the sphere of their own lives, the ear buds of their iPods plugging out all hope for communication. You see these people everyday, yet you too huddle in your group, silently playing your part.

To the Boston College Community, On Tuesday, April 1, a number of fliers of unknown origin were found posted throughout campus. The fliers, which ranged from the silly to the racially offensive, all contained a counterfeit ODSD stamp of approval. University staff and students quickly worked to remove all these fliers, and the Boston College Police Department investigated the matter.
