As a recent 2012 grad I am beyond embarrassed that this column made it into The Heights. The #BeADude campaign is one of the best things the struggling football program has developed over recent years.
I was a freshman the year after Matt Ryan graduated and BC was ranked as high as #2 in the country, and for 4 years I watched dismal football teams under an uninspiring coach.
Now finally we have an exciting and vocal coach that is attempting to recruit and create a buzz for our program through social media. As Coach Addazio said "“be a dude, and what being a dude is, is being a baller. You know? Just being a real baller. Just being a dude. Be great. Be a baller. Be great at what you are. Just don’t be average.” Not once does he relate this to football.
At BC we are supposed to excel and be great at what we do. You can be great as a student, an opera singer, or a football player. Also, sometimes I call my female friends "dude".
In conclusion, Evan Goldstein's column is embarrassing because he has no argument and our football team finally is creating some good news that could generate good recruits and this article takes away from that.
