Noah Cyrus, Dominic Fike, and WATTS Release Singles

“Re: Stacks” – Noah Cyrus’ Bon Iver Cover

★★★★☆

Following her recent Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, Noah Cyrus added to the rollout of Spotify Singles with the release of her “Re: Stacks” by Bon Iver cover. Leading up to Sunday’s Grammy Awards, Spotify released new material for those nominated in the category by asking each artist to contribute pairs of songs for the series: one reimagined version of an original as well as a cover of an artist who inspires them. Cyrus’ vocal talent shines through in the cover. Her folk charm and genuine approach to the cover bring the song to a new level. She speeds the pace up slightly and heightens the volume of the vocals to effectively bring greater attention to the lyrics and create an unearthly feeling in the song. Fans of Noah Cyrus and Bon Iver alike will appreciate the inventive approach she brings to the piece.

“The Kiss of Venus” – Dominic Fike’s Paul McCartney Cover

★★★☆☆

Continuing the trend of cover releases this Friday, Dominic Fike released his version of Paul McCartney’s 2020 song “The Kiss of Venus.” Fike’s alternative style of hip-hop makes the cover reminiscent of The Beatles’ 1967 Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

“Feels” – WATTS feat. Khalid

★★★☆☆

Khalid joins WATTS to create a moody, lo-fi sound in “Feels.” Khalid’s vocals pair perfectly with WATTS and uniquely complements the slow and drawn-out nature of the track. The softness of this single makes it the perfect additive to any study playlist.
