Your Guide to the Best Marathon Monday Outfits

As classes wind down for Easter Break, there’s a surge of excitement among students. Funny enough, the chatter isn’t filled with “What are your plans for break?” or “Where are you going for Easter?” Rather, students are hyperfixated on one of Boston College’s most cherished holidays—Marathon Monday. Whether you’re running the race or watching it, here are some outfit tips to ensure you look your best on this exciting day!

’90s (Neon) Outfits

Somehow, the ‘90s always creep back into modern fashion, especially when it comes to anything neon. This chemical element is bright and loud, two qualities that BC students embody on this special day. No matter the accessory, whether it be an accent of socks or a bright orange shirt, neon is a bold, well-loved look for MarMon.

Another plus: if you wear neon, it’ll be easier to spot your friends in the crowd during Saweetie’s performance, or while you’re standing along the barricades of spectators watching the race.

Athletic Attire (and Jerseys)

It seems fitting that athletic clothes are a fan pick for MarMon. Both comfy and easy to run in, a nice workout set will do the trick. Sweatpants and a sweater could work too, especially if it’s cold on Marathon Monday. The weather apps are saying it will be in the ‘60s though, so things are looking up!

Athletic jerseys also make for a fun, easy MarMon uniform. Although they can be a bit pricey, these shirts are easily reusable for BC games or major sports events.

BC Merch

Along with BC jerseys, any Boston College merch will do for Mile 21. If you have some sweatpants you’ve been dying to wear, pull them out of your drawers! The bookstore also has some niche BC gear—styrofoam finger-pointers and other accessories can elevate your outfit if you’ve already planned one. Like I said earlier, you’re guaranteed to re-wear any BC merch that you purchase.

Boston Marathon Merch

Unlike many marathons, the Boston Marathon has an official mascot—the unicorn. Athletes and spectators alike can purchase all sorts of apparel online that sport the unicorn or the official navy-blue-and-yellow colors. In fact, Adidas has a page of their website dedicated to it.

Group Outfits

In past years, students have taken group outfits very seriously. You can expect Despicable Me inspired costumes with the Minions and Gru all the way to the blue and purple Teletubbies. While these are only predictions, they’re certainly the type of random outfits you’ll see on Monday.

Vintage

Though it might be hard to come by, vintage athletic apparel is the perfect pick for both watching and running. One great example is a Nike 2000s windbreaker: designed for running, they’ll keep you comfy, dry, and warm for whatever comes your way on MarMon.
