The Eagles followed up one of their best periods of the year with one of their worst. But Ron Greco’s snipe salvaged a brutal second frame, and the game, for BC.
While BC did score four goals on Friday night, it could have actually beaten its crosstown rival, if it weren’t for a handful of turnovers and sloppy special teams play.
The Eagles got off to a hot start in the 275th meeting between the two teams, but the Terriers stormed back with two three-goal stretches in the first and second periods.
Last year, the Eagles lost to BU three times before upsetting the Terriers in the Hockey East Semifinals. If BC is to continue its eight-game unbeaten streak, it’ll have to get by its crosstown rival this weekend.
BC hung with the Terriers for the entire first half, and even led entering the break. But an 18-4 BU run in the back half of play proved to be too much for the Eagles to overcome.
Goaltender Katie Burt’s career-high 43 saves masked the fact the Eagles were booked for a season-high eight penalties against BU. The Eagles won’t always be so fortunate.
