Boston College’s new global public health and the common good major will aim to prepare future graduates for the social justice issues they may face throughout their careers, according to Summer Sherburne Hawkins.
Boston College announced that it has created a Global Observatory on Pollution and Health to raise awareness about the problems surrounding pollution. The observatory will be directed by Philip J. Landrigan.
Boston College hired Philip J. Landrigan as a full-time faculty member to lead the creation of the University’s Global Public Health Initiative, which will include a new major and minor and will be a cornerstone of the new Schiller Institute for Integrated Science and Society, according to a University press release.
The interdisciplinary program aims to expand students’ awareness of health as a global social justice issue as they pursue careers in health care.
