The Eagles return to regular season action as they participate in the Snowbird Classic, a three-game set against the Big Ten’s Minnesota, Indiana, and Rutgers in Port Charlotte.
Coming into its series against Notre Dame, BC had recorded just 11 home runs. Every other team in the ACC had hit at least 25. But on Saturday, the Eagles blasted four, en route to their fifth-straight victory.
BC’s lineup exploded for 16 hits against the Wolfpack, pulling out an 8-3 win with Pete Frates and his family in attendance.
The coaching staffs were expecting rain, and a possible delay, but not a suspension of play. In the middle of the fifth inning, Wednesday’s Beanpot final was halted with BC leading Harvard 3-2.
The North Carolina lineup picked apart both Dan Metzdorf and Brian Rapp in Sunday’s doubleheader. Before long, the games were effectively over, and BC was forced to attempt a desperate and unrealistic comeback.
It couldn’t have started any better for BC. With a full count, Donovan Casey homered over the left-field fence, setting the tone for the Eagles’ 5-1 victory over Northeastern in the Beanpot semifinal.
